“Home for Dignity” A Rural Housing Initiative for the Homeless in Anuradhapura District.
Executive Summary
This project aims to construct 200 permanent houses to serve as safe, dignified shelter for 200 homeless
individuals or families living in vulnerable conditions in rural Anuradhapura. Each house will include two
bedrooms, a living area, kitchen, and bathroom, built to suit rural lifestyles with essential utilities.
The project will improve living standards, provide health and safety, support access to services like education and
employment, and promote community integration.
Project Objectives
· Build 200 durable, disaster-resilient houses for vulnerable and homeless families.
· Improve health, safety, and wellbeing by replacing unsafe shelters.
· Enable social reintegration and access to basic services.
· Create local employment through labor-based construction.
· Promote community cohesion and sustainable rural development.
Monitoring & Evaluation
· Weekly supervision by engineers and site officers

Sustainability Strategy
